Plans are afoot to develop cultural industries, tourism and infrastructure in Haltwhistle and western Tynedale that will benefit the local economy.
Urban design and town planning specialist Taylor Young has been commissioned to examine the options for development land on the outskirts of Haltwhistle, bordering Hadrian Business Park and the former Akzo Nobel works.
The project will involve intensive consultation with residents, local businesses and tourist attractions along the Hadrian's Wall corridor, through workshops and interviews, in order to gauge public opinion and shape proposals.
The last section of the £26m Haydon Bridge bypass has been put in place.
The scheme to take the A69 1.8 miles south of the Northumberland village was completed yesterday after it was approved last September.
