Haydon Bridge in decisive victory over Morpeth

Posted by Simon Honeysett on Oct 18, 08 01:44 PM in Sport

In Division Five of the Under-12 league, Haydon Bridge maintained their winning ways with a great victory over Morpeth Porto - with Conor Gowland nabbing five goals.

Gowland opening the scoring from a throw-in from captain Jake Hutchinson and soon followed that up with his second of the first half.

Porto re-grouped well and piled on serious pressure on the Haydon Bridge back line, forcing Kyle Humphrey to make a great save.

Porto's pressure deservedly paid off when a well-struck shot from the edge of the box found the net.

The Bridge took control early in the second half, and great combination play between debutant Callum Thomas and Caleb Rees slotted Gowland in for his third goal.

The game opened up even more when Ryan Robley played a great ball into Gowland for his fourth, and Simon Rice and Connor Brown then combined to create another chance which Gowland converted.

Tom Wilson then completed Bridge's scoring spree with a double.
