Narrow escape for Tynedale
There were few points but plenty of excitement as Blaydon wasted a wonderful opportunity to beat Tynedale in National League Two.
Tynedale somehow managed to edge the derby encounter 8-5, despite being put under severe pressure by the visitors, with some desperate last-ditch defending preserving their long unbeaten record at Corbridge.
Blaydon deservedly took the lead in the first half when a good run by Andrew Fenby led to Jason Smithson crashing over from close.
A failed conversion limited Blaydon to the five points, but nobody could have predicted this would be the end of their scoring.
Five minutes into the second half, Tynedale's Andrew Murray slogged over a 40-metre penalty to cut the deficit before an excellent break from centre Jack Harrison allowed Jamie Murray to score out wide.
Again the conversion attempt sailed wide, but Tynedale's superb defensive work did the rest.
