Haltwhistle Autumn Walking Festival
Bookings for the Haltwhistle Autumn Walking Festival are going very well which reflects just how good this celebration of walking in the beautiful landscapes surrounding Haltwhistle.
More people have booked than at this stage than at the same stage last year with more people returning to enjoy both the walks and the company.
The Geology and Fungi walks are full, but there are there are still plenty spaces on the remaining 17 walks over different distances with different themes. Booking can be made online through the website at www.haltwhistlewalkingfestival.org where more details about all of the walks can be seen.
One particular walk worth a mention is the 'Woodland Walk with Farmhouse Tea' which returns by popular demand. The route starts from Haltwhistle and is 5 miles long, which hopefully is long enough to prepare people for the splendid tea that will await them at Wydon Farm.
The Autumn colours should be at their best for the 10mile walk Over the Viaduct on Monday 8th October and for the Linnshield Waterfall walk on Sunday 14th October.
The Festival begins on Sunday 6th October and finishing on the 14ht October. A social evening brings the festival to an end on penultimate day of the festival with the usual splendid buffet at the Comrades Club with entertainment provided by Stephen Fry and Pete Stenhouse with their mix of Geordie songs and humour, there will be of course plenty of time to chat.
Walkers should bring along packed lunches, children over 7 may accompany an adult on the easy or moderate walks, but no dogs are allowed. Booking places on the walks can all be done on line on the website at www.haltwhistlewalkingfestival.org or by telephone through the booking agents on 01749 813899.
