The Haltwhistle Walking Festival drew to a close at the weekend.
With glimpses of October sun, walkers enjoyed the autumn colours and during the last walk examined the bright mosses and lichens near Bellcrag Flow.
This autumn broke previous records for attendance, and festival volunteer Marjorie Baillie said: "The weather for the 10 days of the festival could hardly have been better.
The Haltwhistle Walking Festival has got under way with a series of walks across the weekend, throughout this week and ending on Sunday, October 18.
They have themed walks and the festival kicked off with a walk for the more serious adventurers through bogs and heavy ground. There was also a popular fungus and mushroom identification walk, which organisers could have filled twice over.
Festival volunteer Marjorie Baillie said: "It's been going very well. We've had the first three walks of the Reivers walks, which is our headline walk for this festival.
Five old photos from the Journal's archive showing the village of Greenhead in its tranquil beauty.
The Hadrian's Wall Farmers' Market, featuring a variety of local produce, takes place in Greenhead this Sunday from 10am- 2pm in the village hall (and the second Sunday of each month in 2009).
Amateur photographer Harry Bleech added this photo of a lone Roman Soldier patrolling the heights of Hadrian's Wall to the Your Place Northumberland Flickr group.
A selection of some of the images added so far to our Your Place Northumberland group on the photo-sharing website Flickr.
If you've been out and about at events or scenic places in the county with a camera, why not join the group and add your own?
You can view the group, and more pictures by these photographers, at www.flickr.com/groups/northumberlandcommunities/.
Photos you would like to share on the Journal Extra pictures page can also be sent to northumberland@ncjmedia.co.uk.
Last week's poll on the Your Place Northumberland sites asked people to vote for their favourite natural beauty spot in the county. We celebrate the winner, the Farne Islands, with a gallery of photos showing some of the islands' inhabitants:
